Why Hasn’t Trump Denounced the Spike in Hate Crimes Since His Election?

Over the past 48 hours, women have been assaulted for wearing the hijab, property has been defaced with swastikas, LGBT Americans have been threatened, and African Americans have experienced election result-specific harassment by fellow Americans touting the election of Donald Trump as the dawn of a new America, apparently one where they consider that the ugliest of racial and social animus to have the seal of presidential approval. Huffington Post

Even if the hate crimes had NOTHING to do with the presidential election, wouldn’t you think that a leader should come out and say something?

This kind of violence, taunting and discrimination is not acceptable.

When the ANTI TRUMP protests turned violent and destructive, I felt the same way. This is not who we are.

We are a nation of immigrants. What we all have in common is our differences.

So disappointed.

One Response to Why Hasn’t Trump Denounced the Spike in Hate Crimes Since His Election?

I just got off the phone w/a Republican friend, a rational one, who asked me why Hillary hadn’t asked her supporters (and I don’t know that they are, really, as I told her) to stop protesting against Trump. At the end of the conversation, we both agreed to just wait and see how things shake out between now and the early part of next year, by which time I hope we’ll find that the country, its govt and all its citizens, will be heading in a similar direction somewhere towards the middle of the road. In the interim, let’s just hope that there won’t be too much human or property damage before cooler heads like ours prevail.
